Summary

A high school girl named Maka from the present day Okinawa, time travels back to the past to change history.  The wish for peace that runs through generations is unfolded, making us think to ourselves what we can do to make a better, peaceful world.

A high school girl named Maka (17) is practicing Ryukyuan dance for the Mid-Autumn Festival at the Shurijo Castle. She is also rescuing the lost souls of the people who died during the Battle of Okinawa (WW2) with her Shaman grandmother.

One day, a dwarf with a mask named Tetsu appears out of nowhere. He was actually a genius court official named Ryotetsu Yonabaru (21) from 1874 of Ryukyu Kingdom. Ryotetsu was trying to protect the Ryukyu Kingdom from being abolished by the Japanese Empire. He was assigned a special mission by the highest priestess to revive the magical hymn, “the Hymn of the Teada”, in order to use its magical power to stop the Japanese Empire from advancing.

The Hymn of the Teada can save a nation from crisis and bring peace for 100 years just by being sung once. According to the ancient document written by the legendary Baten priestess, Maka’s name was written as the singer of the Hymn of the Teada. Maka and Ryotetsu work together to revive the magical song, "Hymn of the Teada," in order to change history. Maka has a goal to stop the Battle of Okinawa to prevent 200,000 people from being killed; Ryotetsu has a goal to stop the forced assimilation of the Ryukyu Kingdom into Japan.

Ryotetsu and Maka travels  back in time to Taiwan to prevent the trigger of the assimilation process, the Taiwan Expedition (punitive expedition by the Japanese military forces; 1874). Although they try to change history, Maka is taken back to present day when she tried to sing the Hymn of the Teada. The Ryukyuan spirit named Kimitezuri didn’t allow them to change the history. The Hymn of the Teada will be sung in present day to bring peace to this world and for the future.

What is the world?

"Hymn of the Teada" is a story about a kingdom that vanished during unsettled times in the 19th century.
